The Acton-Boxborough Family Network serves the MA towns of Acton, Boxborough and surrounding communities.

Acton-Boxborough Family Network (ABFN), based in Acton, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit group of parents and caregivers working together to increase and improve local resources for families with young children. ABFN members share the goal of connecting with other parents and families in order to develop social, recreational, service, and cultural opportunities for families and their young children.

ABFN offers themed events throughout the year, monthly story hours and craft hours, a babysitting co-op, weekly outings, a book group, weekly playgroups, educational seminars, moms' night out, dads' night out, a newsletter, online forum, local discounts, and much more.

As a part of our commitment to developing and sustaining a vibrant community, we strive to create an environment of inclusivity. ABFN welcomes all people regardless of their age, culture, disabilities, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, marital status, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. It is our goal to be inclusive, mindful, and respectful of this diversity in our programs and interactions with others.

I'm very ready for the summer time and all the fun adventures we will go on! Maybe it's a far away trip or on a new hike. Lets read books about adventures and summer time. After we read books we will go on our own adventure through the Acton Arboretum and as we go along create something special.

Acton Food Pantry Tour

Thu Jun 7, 2018, 3–3:45 pm EDT

Come see community service in action! We will take a tour of the Acton Food Pantry and will learn how this wonderful organization collects donations and distributes needed goods for members in our community. We will see the inventory areas, used clothing closet and used book area. Children will have an opportunity to ask questions and the visit should last about 45 minutes. It is in building 1 at the intersection of Flag Hill Road. The parking lot and entrance to the building is around the back of the building. It is easier to access the entrance from the parking lot in the back, than the one in the front. We hope you can join us!

Dads' (and other caretakers) Weekday Outing - Nara Park

Fri Jun 8, 2018, 9:30–11 am EDT

Meet by the playground near the lower lot (25 Ledge Rock Way, Acton, MA 01720), here we will decide whether we want to stroll the loop, kick a ball, stay in the playground, or brave the early summer and get a little wet. Bring your balance bikes and swimmers, and we’ll see where we end up!

It’s not a weekend so you don’t need to worry about parking stickers, but if you choose to get wet you may have to get a day pass for the beach:

Dads (Moms and caretakers) come join us for the trial ABFN Dads' (and Moms') Outings. This is a three month period where we will be having midweek get togethers with the kids during traditional work hours. These outings are targeted at male carers, but open to all! The series will hopefully allow carers with difficult working hours to get that bit of extra time with their kids in a group setting.
Events have been planned based on the feedback received during a survey, the survey results will be continually reviewed during the trial period to better shape where and when we meet: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfXIAz5CKCorQurKczs9M_ga44HgN7z-EhN4dm1YMltKJTDyg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Led by new Board member, Nick Townley, this series will hopefully also allow carers with difficult working hours to get that bit of extra time with their kids in a group setting.
