The Dover Mothers' Association (DMA) is a volunteer organization-serving parents of children in the town of Dover, Massachusetts. The goals of the DMA are to provide Dover parents and caregivers with an opportunity to connect with their community, and to form new friendships for themselves and their children through playgroups, children's activities, the online forum, and adult social events.The DMA seeks to serve Dover parents in all situations: working full-time, part-time, at home or in transition.Requirements for Membership: Members must be a parent living in Dover, MA.Typical Events Throughout the Year:
Playgroups for younger children; Community Events such as the Fall Festival and the Pancake Breakfast; Family excursions to the Paw Sox, the Big Apple Circus, Davis Farmland. Social Events for Couples including our outstanding Holiday Party;
Moms Nights Out Events, both social and educational, at members' home and local restaurants; Social Events for Working Moms (everyone welcome); Community Service efforts through Dover Cares.
Powisset Farm Ethnic Cooking Series: Italian & Pasta Making 101
In this class you will learn the different techniques for making pasta by hand and using a pasta machine. The team will create ravioli, cavatelli and gnocchi and get to taste their creations in Chef Meg’s delicious homemade sauces. The class will begin with everyone learning the basic concepts of creating home-made pasta dough and then break into small groups to create different types of pasta for the group to taste and share. Each group small group will share what they learned with the rest of the team and offer their tips for how to recreate their dish at home.
Valentine Day Cookies: Little Cupids in the Kitchen!
Little cupids will gather in the kitchen to make and decorate shortbread Valentines Day cookies with icing and other fun decorations. Ages 7 unless accompanied by an adult.
Tapas & Champagne: A Valentines Evening of Fun & Food on the Farm
Celebrate Valentines Day at Powisset Farm! Together, we'll make some tapas, or small plates, we'll have a champagne toast, and of course enjoy what we have cooked up. During the evening, we will also playing some good ole fashioned games! Limited to 12 people.
Time to Make the Donuts
With the donut craze all around us, we thought it was high time to learn how to make our own! Erin Gardner obtained her training at Johnson & Wales Baking and Pastry Arts Program, and has worked in the restaurant industry for many years, firstly at Sofra Bakery in Cambridge, MA, and most recently at Marini Farm in Ipswich, MA. She quickly learned she “loved the science and art of baking” and was ready for a long-time career in culinary arts. She has her favorites and fresh, artistically decorated, flavorful donuts are always on the top of her list. We will be making both biscuit donuts and a french cruller, with plenty of tasting involved!
Slice & Dice: Pizza & Board Games
Venture out during school vacation! Join Powisset Cooks! for a fun-filled day of pizza making, eating and board games. We will have board games available but feel free to bring your own. Kids and adults alike are welcome.
