Learn More About Highlands Mommies!

We are Northwest Denver’s largest online community for connecting families and sharing resources in the neighborhood! Our children range in age from newborn to school age. We are a place to share stories, ask questions and laugh. A place that assures you that you are not alone. A place where you can get and give help and support. A place where supporting our children and our community matters!

OUR MISSION
The mission of Highlands Mommies is to support the community and the children of Northwest Denver by offering membership to parents who reside within the group’s boundaries (I-25 to Harlan and Colfax to Regis — Denver, Colorado). We strive to support the well-being of families in the community by providing an online forum to share parenting information, make contacts, promote member businesses and interests, and to organize support for neighborhood schools. We work to strengthen our community by creating and nurturing relationships with local businesses, schools, police, policy leaders, non-profits, and our neighbors through online communications and social events, always with an emphasis on respectful, considerate interactions that may serve as leading examples for our children. Highlands Mommies is an inclusive parenting group that welcomes and respects diversity, with the goal of continually reaching out to under-represented populations in the community, and evolving as necessary to encourage inclusion.

Coffee & Book Babies, Mommy/Daddy & Little One Meet Up — Tuesdays

Tue Jun 28, 2016, 9:30–11 am MDT

Every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am at the Tennyson Street Coffee Shop something wonderful happens.

This is where sleep deprived new moms and dads meet to have a cup of coffee.

It sounds simple but it's amazing what having a reason to get out of the house to meet other parents of 0-2 year olds can do for a new mom or dad. This is where you can go to commiserate. You can have an adult conversation with someone who really wants to hear about how much sleep you've had, your baby's bowel moments and 'those I can't believe what my little one is doing now' stories.

After coffee the group walks over to Book Babies Story & Play Time at the Smiley Library (near 46th & Tennyson) that's from 10:30 - 11 am; for Newborns to 24 month olds.

Mr. Dana is delightful and once you go once, you will be hooked. It's more of a sing along than a book reading. It's been described as a 'running of the bulls' with babies, balls and bubbles.

Note: The head librarian, Chucky, of the Smiley Library has asked that we leave our strollers outside the library or leave them in our cars to allow enough space for everyone to attend.

This meet up has been going strong for over a year now and each week it gets bigger & better!
